Zaptel won't build on MkLinux because it has a Mach kernel, not a  
Linux kernel. As for Zaptel on BSD, last time I checked, the only BSD  
for which a port of Zaptel was available was FreeBSD 5 or newer and  
that is highly experimental, so much so that everybody says its  
crashing all the time. So, by the time you have written all the  
missing software for MkLinux or NetBSD on your Quadra, you've  
probably spend in the vicinity of 35.000 USD. That, BTW, is the  
average of the various quotations we had a year or so ago from  
various outsourcing shops to port Zaptel to OSX. I think you'll  
rather get the dongle modem or a Sipura.
