[Mac-telephony-list] LinuxPPC & * or OpenPBX?

How about linux on PPC? Surely in the realm of mac only establishments there
are tons of old hardware deemed too slow to be able to run the memory
intensive multimedia apps we have grown accustomed to using? Without the
bulky GUI of a window manager running wouldn't these machines make decent
digital secretaries able to take incoming calls and redirect them elsewhere?
Both debian and gentoo are well suited and supported on the powerpc platform.
And both have Asterisk in their package managers, meaning asterisk
installation should be a snap. I have an amd64 box running gentoo that I am
typing this on right now, which is also answering my phone nowadays through a
spa-3102. Gentoo was able to compile and get the asterisk server running for
me without my intervention, I merely modified the configuration files. I
plan on revamping an old beige mac to see how asterisk runs on modest
hardware. Does anyone else have experience with linux on PPC as a PBX?
