A brief reminder about list etiquette.

As is stated on the listinfo page at ...

http://lists.mactelephony.net/mailman/listinfo/mac-telephony-list

..... this list is "intended for the discussion of any topic related to
telephony on MacOS X and Darwin".

This includes asking questions.

The listinfo page also says "Different points of view are welcome".

This includes stating opinions.

However, if somebody states an opinion, somebody else may challenge
that opinion.

Please also take the topic space into consideration. People subscribe
to this list because they have an interest in telephony on the Mac.
Comparisons such as "Asterisk on Linux versus Asterisk on MacOS X"
are of interest for the detail they provide. Readers wish to make
their own informed decisions. The more detail, the more value to the
readership.

As the listinfo page states, opinions are welcome, but it should not
come as a surprise when opinion that takes the very reason why this
list exists into question is met with suspicion and thus challenged
by other readers of this list. In fact, posts which are in denial of
the raison-d'etre of this list are bordering on being off-topic
unless they provide value to the readership.

At the same time, it should also be noted that what appears obvious
to one person, may not be obvious to another. A poster may state an
opinion without reasoning not in bad faith but in the belief that it
was obvious to others.

Therefore, no matter where a discussion may lead, please treat each
other with respect.

thank you for your consideration
